Sertion Group Companies Work Together to Build Europe’s First Full-Scale Tire Recycling Plant

13 juni 2025

As a growing international infra- and installation partner, Sertion companies IPC, Radiator VVS, and Örebro Gasteknik collaborate to build one of the most innovative industrial projects in Europe: the first full-scale tire recycling plant. This cutting-edge facility, developed in Uddevalla by Scandinavian Enviro Systems for Infiniteria, the Joint Venture between Enviro, Michelin and Antin Infrastructure Partners, marks a crucial step towards transforming how end-of-life tires are recycled.

With Radiator VVS, Gasteknik and IPC all contributing specialist systems and infrastructure, the project represents the full strength of Sertion in motion – helping transforming one of Europe’s most pressing environmental challenges into a model for circular, industrial innovation.

IPC Installs All Equipment, Including 27 Custom-Built Storage Tanks

Building on a strong relationship directly with Enviro, IPC is managing a substantial mechanical installation scope demanding significant specialized skills. With 27 custom-built storage tanks, installation of 200 tons of structural steel, and 5,000 meters of piping manufactured and installed across the site, IPC is enabling the core infrastructure behind the recycling process. The scale of IPC’s involvement is significant, with a team currently comprising 8 staff members and 40 site personnel, expected to peak at around 60 installers.

– IPC is proud to partner directly with Enviro on this landmark project, handling a significant and complex mechanical installation scope, comments John Ahl, CEO at IPC. – Our team’s work is crucial for realizing Enviro’s advanced recycling system on an industrial scale.

Radiator VVS Installs Systems for Water Supply, Wastewater, and Heating

Contracted by the primary construction partner, EBC Group, Radiator VVS in Uddevalla is undertaking the installation of crucial building infrastructure across the 27,000 sqm facility. Their responsibility includes the complete systems for wastewater, potable water, and heating within both the main process hall and a separate building. The detailed engineering and design for these systems were performed by Radiator’s own in-house technical department. A central innovation is the reuse of surplus heat from tire recycling to power the building’s heating and water systems—creating a circular energy flow within the plant.

– It’s incredibly exciting for us at Radiator to be part of this journey towards making the tire industry more environmentally sustainable, says Stefan Hertz, Branch Manager for Radiator VVS in Uddevalla.

Örebro Gasteknik Installs Liquefied Petroleum Gas System

Örebro Gasteknik is delivering a vital component for the plant’s operational process – the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) system. Contracted by Flogas Sverige AB (the gas supplier to the Uddevalla plant), Örebro Gasteknik’s project involves supplying and installing a vaporizer station to convert liquid LPG to gas, installing an LPG storage tank, and laying the necessary pipelines between these components, including unloading lines.

– This project demands precise engineering and rigorous adherence to documentation standards suitable for a groundbreaking facility, states Mats Billberger, CEO at Örebro Gasteknik. – Our specialist expertise ensures we deliver a robust and compliant LPG system for Flogas, ensuring it reliably serves Enviro’s vital recycling operations.

A Collective Contribution to Sustainability and Complex Projects

This is not just a construction project – it’s a complex, high-stakes initiative requiring real-time coordination, precision engineering and trust between partners. Sertion companies were brought into the project early to solve critical system challenges.

– This is what we’re built for. When technical challenges, sustainability goals and large-scale logistics come together, we bring the specialist knowledge to make it all work, says Andreas Bogren, CEO at Sertion.

Sertion, through the collaborative efforts and specialist expertise of IPC, Örebro Gasteknik, and Radiator VVS, is playing an integral part in bringing this environmentally significant facility online. This project perfectly exemplifies Sertion’s goal to deliver comprehensive, turnkey solutions for complex industrial projects and underscores our commitment to technical precision, resource efficiency, and building long-term relationships to deliver consistent value.

About the project

The Infiniteria Uddevalla plant, based on Scandinavian Enviro Systems’ leading technology, is a landmark project driven by the need for sustainable solutions. By recovering valuable materials from used tires – initially processing 34,500 tonnes annually (40% of Sweden’s total) with a planned operational start in 2025 – it significantly contributes to reducing waste and CO2 emissions (over 90% reduction when using recovered carbon black in new tire production).
